My (ongoing) Journey towards a Holistic & ‘Balanced’ Life
This came about from a mixture of the good fortune of living in many different lands and with people from diverse cultures, seeing and tasting life in its myriad facets, experiencing a few hard knocks, making many mistakes…AND serendipity ~ that’s the best part!
My interest in holistic living took me into the realms of European and Asian herbs, detoxification, fasting, cooking, complimentary health products, homeopathy, TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), Ayurvedic Medicine, urine therapy and more.
I tried many things…and have experience of what works or doesn’t in my area of research – for me (every one is different)…like (NOT) eating only raw food for 6 months, when I nearly died from extreme weakness: that’s when I learned that the mind is really linked to the body and vice versa.
Perhaps the most extraordinary thing I’ve ever done in my life was a fire walk. Now, years later just thinking about it…it’s like “WOW…live coals? And I didn’t get burned, didn’t even get the tiniest of blisters, and was dancing barefoot 10 minutes later?” Simply amazing what the mind is capable of!
I searched for the answers to life, like countless people before me. I became passionately interested in Astrology and studied it in depth. I also studied Tibetan Buddhism and practised Tibetan Yoga of the Mind: Nirvana does exist (for me – anyway) even if only for a fleeting moment.
I went into the ‘New Age’ phase, then abandoned it. I delved deep into the writings of The Dalai Lama and J. Krishnamurti. Meditation the traditional way didn’t seem to work for me until I found a new technology a couple of years ago. And this seems to be working slow, subtle miracles.
Most days, I endeavour to maintain a balance in everything (very often…not always successful! ~ I have bad hair days…yucks!… like everyone) and keep reminding myself: “Get back on The Middle Ground and you’ll be OK.” And so it is.
I now know a few more things that I didn’t know before…and the journey continues…
