Perfect Your Compost Pile ~ 6 Top Tips

March 5, 2020 By Luckily Leave a Comment

Perfect Your Compost Pile

Perfect Your Compost Pile

6 Top Tips to Achieve Your Dream Compost!

grow your food organically

To get yourself the perfect garden, the first step is the perfect compost pile. With these six simple composting tips your garden will be looking fantastic in no time.

1 . Balance green and brown

Perfect Your Compost PileA compost pile needs the right balance of carbon and nitrogen to break down properly. To create great compost, ensure that you use an equal amount of green vs. brown materials.
.
Green materials
such as grass clippings, manure, and vegetable scraps will provide nitrogen for your pile.
.
Brown materials like wood chips, shredded paper, and dead leaves will provide your pile with carbon.
.
2. Turn your compost frequently

When you add oxygen to your compost, this helps the ingredients to break down faster. This is because the bacteria responsible for breaking down the compost need exposure to air to do the job.
.
Once the bacteria has consumed the air within the pile, it will start to die. Yet, if you turn the pile, you’ll provide new air for the bacteria to thrive and break down the compost.
.
For the best results, turn your
compost pile at least every two weeks. You can use an aerating tool to do so.

3. A compost tumbler

For those who want great results with little hard work, a compost tumbler is the way to go! These are sealed containers that you can rotate easily to mix the materials. The container helps to lock in the heat and speeds up the composting process.
.
Compost bins are a little different as these are open at the bottom. While a compost bin is still effective, a tumbler is the more efficient way to compost.

4. Worms can help

Perfect Your Compost PileWorm composting involves a container of soil, shredded leaves, and paper.
.
Simply put some manure worms onto this bed and then add your food waste. The worms work to turn your waste into some real amazing compost!

5. Check moisture

For a great compost pile, you’ve got to ensure that the moisture level is just right. You need to make sure that your compost is moist without being too soggy. If you find that your pile is soggy, it can be a good idea to add some dry materials to help.
.
Ensure that you cover your compost properly if you live in a country that gets a lot of rain. When living in the opposite climate, you’ll need to add water now and then yourself.

6. Shred-it up

Generally speaking, it’s the brown materials that need more time to break down.
.
With this in mind, you should shred your brown items before you add them to the pile. Use a shredder or a chipper, yet if you don’t have one, you can chop or cut your tougher brown materials using gardening scissors.
.
Softer materials will break down easily on their own, so there’s no need to cut them.

How Your Diet Affects Your Skin and HairOnce you’ve got your compost perfected, it’s time to start growing some wonderful things in your garden.
.
From vegetables and fruits to beautiful plants and trees, it all starts with the right fertile soil.
.
When you improve your garden you’ll likely
improve your nutrition and health at the same time.
.
eat organic food
Then, once you’ve mastered growing with soil, why not get yourself a hydroponics kit for a new fun gardening experience?
.
Perfect Your Compost Pile Hydroponics is the process of growing plants using a nutrient-rich water-based procedure.
.
Common substances used for the growth process include peat moss, clay pellets, or rock wool.

Fit Healthy Eating Into Your Busy LifeStyle ~ 7 Top Strategies

Health Boosting Foods

How to Fit Healthy Eating Into Your Busy LifeStyle

7 Top Strategies to Successfully Achieve This!

Fit Healthy Eating Into Your Busy LifeStyle.
T
he 21
st century is synonymous with a constant rush and much stress from all the to-ing and fro-ing. So it’s no wonder we are easily dazzled by everything labeled “instant” !
.
With food, these range from coffee, soup to ready-to-eat meals. Many of us try to find ways to spend less time in the kitchen, and more with our families.
.
However, these “fast lane” choices often come at a price. And the aspect of our lives that tends to suffer most as a result is our health. Consequently, we may gain unwanted excess weight, or discover we are suffering from cancer or heart disease. And our looks might take a bashing which then affects our self-esteem and emotional well-being.
.
How to Improve Your Cardiovascular HealthParadoxically, this hectic pace of living and their consequences have caused a spike in our global health awareness. This means that we are finally ready to make time for healthy choices and up our health and vitality BUT without cutting our workday short.
.
Without further ado, let’s explore 7 ways you can squeeze in some “clean” eats into your busy schedule without spending hours in the kitchen!

1. Master the art of meal-prepping

Fit Healthy Eating Into Your Busy LifeStyleInstead of wasting an hour here and there trying to catch up with your healthy eating regime, you can spend one entire afternoon preparing for the week ahead.
.
First of all, start with shopping in bulk and freezing what’s perishable.
.
Then, cook and pack your meals in mason jars, or plastic containers, which will keep the food fresh for each day of the week!
.
Keep your meat and veggies in separate containers or use dividers to keep them apart, to avoid spoilage.

2. Choose water over coffee

Fit Healthy Eating Into Your Busy LifeStyle Although there’s nothing wrong with an occasional cup of coffee to help you grind through a busy day, relying on caffeine to keep you energized may lead to dehydration.
.
Before this becomes a habit, find an insulated water bottle that suits your needs, and always keep it by your side.
.
That way, even when you’re working away at your desk, there’s a fresh drink waiting for you to fuel your creativity.
.
Enrich your hydrating routine with daily herbal teas, and your body will be forever grateful!

3. Make quick but healthy meals

Fit Healthy Eating Into Your Busy LifeStyle Sometimes your mason jars will fail you and you’ll have to find a healthy meal substitute to maintain your eating schedule.
.
However, before you reach for a sugar-packed chocolate bar or a fatty burger, you can munch on
healthier snacks like nuts including pecan, almonds and walnuts. They contain all the essential nutrients of your regular healthy meal.
.
It’s essential to have a healthy back-up plan for unexpected situations, so that you don’t end up skipping your meals or eating something that belongs to that famous “instant”, but unhealthy section.
.

4. Snack wisely

Fit Healthy Eating Into Your Busy LifeStyle In addition to your three daily meals, sometimes you’ll need an additional boost to make it through a hard day.
.
You can also
pre-pack healthy snacks in individual bags during your meal-prepping ritual, for the sake of convenience.
.
Think: almonds, walnuts, peanuts, hazelnuts, and the like, or fresh fruits, all of which will keep your belly full and make for a healthy nibble until your next meal.

5. Start your day with a breakfast

Fit Healthy Eating Into Your Busy LifeStyle From banana-peanut smoothies to the classic oatmeal, you can take your pick from a wide selection of simple breakfast recipes.
.
These will give you a health boost without taking away too much of your precious time.
.
Skipping breakfast, on the other hand, may cause you to feel cranky, sluggish, and drowsy later in the day.
.
Therefore, you need to start with a meal that will lift you up without over-burdening your digestion. Five to ten minutes of your morning make for a great bargain when your health is at stake!

6. Avoid multi-tasking

In an attempt to save time, we often choose to do several things at once, and one of them is usually munching on a meal while we wrap up prepping our presentation or exchanging emails.
.
Using your lunch break
for anything other than your lunch can be detrimental to your health, because you’ll be more prone to overeating.
.
When it’s time to eat, drop everything else, including your phone and tablet. Focus on your colleagues and your meal. This simple ritual will help you chew through your every bite, improve your digestion, and eat the right amount of food!

7. Seek out healthy deliveries

There will be days when you run out of your trusty meal supplies and substitutes. Your second back-up plan should also be a healthy option, not a “fast food” one.
.
Depending on your location, there are bound to be grocery stores or restaurants that make and deliver healthy meals to your office. All you need to do is choose the type of meals you want, and you’ll be all set for your lunch in no time!

End-Of-Year Festive Holiday Indulgences ~ 5 Super Healthy Tips

December 14, 2017 By Luckily Leave a Comment

End-Of-Year Festive Holiday Indulgences

.5 Super Healthy Tips to Enjoy Your End-Of-Year Festive Holiday Indulgences without The Guilt

End-Of-Year Festive Holiday Indulgences

.
At this time of year, we all know that the indulgences are going to roll in – thick and fast. And it can drive you a little crazy trying to think of ways to avoid them.
.
When you like to live a healthy lifestyle, you don’t always want to see it go down the drain come Christmas. At the same time, if you’re keen to commit to a healthier way of life in the
New Year, why wait?
.
You can totally make it happen over the holidays, just by being a little more conscious of the choices you make. And we’re not just saying you have to cut back here. In fact, you should definitely indulge – you just need to make room for it and find the best balance for you.

1. Indulge, Then Don’t

It’s highly likely that you’ll know when your big indulgences will be. They’re often the meals and celebrations that you have planned in.
.
From your holiday dinner itself to meet-ups with friends and work events, there’s a lot that you’re going to know about in advance. This makes it super easy to plan.
.
If you know you’re going to be having a rich dinner or lots of drinks for one meal, you can make sure you keep it clean for the next. That way, you’ll be able to balance out the indulgences you do and don’t have.

2. Keep Active

We all want to wrap up warm and kind of veg out a bit at this time of year. But when you’re starting to indulge that little bit more, it’s important that you actually aim to keep active.
.
You’re great at it for the rest of year, so don’t let it slip now. With some good old-fashioned
fat burning exercises in place, you’ll be able to counteract all of those heavy indulgences you’re having (or most of them anyway).

3. Watch Your Toxin Intake

Next, you’re going to need to go easy with the bad stuff. Because you’re indulging more, so you need to have a balance.
.
For example, go for a mocktail instead of champagne every now and again. It always helps to watch your toxin intake.

4. Serve Up Healthy Alternatives

If your calendar is starting to look quite full, you’re going to want to see if you can’t make it a little easier on yourself by having some healthy alternatives included too.
.
You don’t have to make every meal super clean, but you could put on some clever, healthy dishes so that you can choose to have a smart balance on your plate – and not just with every other meal.

5. Go Easy On Yourself

End-Of-Year Festive Holiday Indulgences But you also need to go easy on yourself. Because this time of year only comes around once each year, so it’s not like you’re going to do too much harm.
.
Allow yourself the indulgences that you want and don’t beat yourself up about it. As long as you’re being responsible, it’s always going to be okay.

How to Turn Your Passion Into a Career ~ 3 Top Strategies

November 30, 2017 By Luckily Leave a Comment

How to Turn Your Passion Into a Career

,
You can Turn Your Passion into a Career with These 3 Strategies

How to Turn Your Passion Into a Career Let’s be honest, pursuing a passion, even enough to make it a career, is going to be easier said than done.
.
You will be getting out of your comfort zone and having to learn about something new.
.
.
.
While you may be enthusiastic and passionate about it, it can be a long process to learn enough to then be able to do that for your job.
.
So even though it may be focused around something that you love, a
lack of patience could be the thing that stops you from pursuing a passion.
.
So how can you be one of those people who does make it? Here are 3 strategies to help.

1. Use Your Free Time Well

How to Turn Your Passion Into a CareerIf you’re really serious about turning your passion into a career, then you need to use all the time that is available to you.
.
It is likely that you’ll need to spend your full-time job hours doing your normal career.
.
.
.
But in your spare time usually after work at night, you can look to develop things and try new things out.
.
Take Bill Gates as an example. It isn’t like one day he just created Microsoft. It was a passion of his and from a young age, he would take time to follow his passion and create new things.
.
So do some reading your lunch break or try out a new idea in the evening. Keep working and make the best use your free time.

2. Learn From Your Failures

There are certain things that we don’t know we are going to be no good at until we have give it a try. We might like the idea of something and it could work for us in theory. But if you haven’t tried it out, how will you know?
.
Someone like Victoria Beckham, for example, has created a career doing something totally different from what she started out doing. Music to fashion was a fairly large leap. But she learned from her failure as a solo artist and moved onto a different passion to make it a success.

3. Study Smart and Hard

How to Turn Your Passion Into a Career Whether it is reading literature and blogs in your desired field, attending courses, or using a mentor, there are many great things that can come from studying.
.
And if you want to turn your passion into a career, then it is going to take a fair bit of studying.
.
Take your current career as a registered nurse, for example. If you have a passion for caring for others, then you may want to stay in that field. It could just be looking for a course to study to help you go further. A course like
RN to BSN online is fast and cheap, so it could be an option if you want to develop your knowledge and your career.
.
Look at your chosen career and think about the skills that will be needed, then work and study hard to get them.

health sifu

All of these strategies and examples have something in common. They make you go out and doing something for changes to happen. Work at your craft and you can have a brilliant career to show for it.

Looking After Your Health ~ 3 Tips to Achieving This

October 15, 2017 By Luckily Leave a Comment

Looking After Your Health

When Looking After Your Health

3 Important Areas to Consider

Looking After Your Health In the modern world, people have more ways than ever to monitor, assess, and look after their bodies.
.
There are many products to help you keep on top, and gyms have never been more popular. Health has always been a trend and it’s not about to stop.
.
Of course, you have to be realistic: you can fall ill and suffer from a medical condition or other. The way you look after and treat your body has to be carefully planned.
.
Below, we explore 3 areas which you should consider when caring for your health and well-being
.
.

  • 1. Choosing The Right Doctor / Health Practitioner

Looking After Your Health
Photo by Hush Naidoo on Unsplash

The health professional you choose will always play a huge part in the way that your treatment or health condition impacts your life.
.
The practitioner you choose needs to have
the right track record. So you will need to do some research to get this information. Thankfully, there are many sites which can provide you with reviews of medical and health professionals.
.
With due diligence, you can get a good idea of the practitioner’s training and background.
.

  • 2. Educate Yourself On Your Health Issue

Looking After Your Health Of course, it can often feel a little stressful and daunting if you have to simply rely on someone else’s prognosis with regard to your health issues.
.
If you want to be certain you’re being told things you can trust, doing a little bit of learning is the best way to help yourself.
.
Blogs are a great resource, as they are free and often
written by professionals. Health journals and medical books are also  good resources to use. It’s wise to cast your research net out wide to get a good grasp of your health issue.
.
Some people may want to take their learning a little bit further than this. They may want to do some formal study to help them. From online courses on your health condition to full-on
nurse practitioner programs, there are many ways to achieve this goal.
.
Not many people realize just how much a little bit of knowledge can help them to feel better. Information is often the key to sound sleep.
.

  • 3. Lifestyle, Diet & Exercise

Looking After Your Health Finally, it’s time to think about the time you invest in your everyday health and fitness.
.
The quality of your health will impact any medical conditions your may suffer from. For example, being fit may reduce the risk of a heart attack, even if your your diet is not optimal.
.
The little habits you indulge in
on a daily basis are the true offenders here, though.
.
Habits like smoking, drinking, and bingeing on junk food can be detrimental for your overall health. An holistic health practitioner should be able to advise you on ways to tackle these problematic issues.

Looking After Your Health Good habits are important and your diet is vital here. You will want to avoid all processed foods, chemical additives, artificial sugars, sodas and table salt to start with. Replace all these with their natural, unadulterated versions.
.
This is an area where a holistic nutritionist can be of great value. She can help you work out good meal plans and keep you on the straight and narrow.
.

Looking After Your Health Exercise is a must. Simple changes, like walking to work instead of driving, will have the biggest impact here.
.
Find an exercise you like, so you will stick to doing it. Some people like going to the gym, while others don’t. It doesn’t matter, as long you commit to doing the exercise on a regular basis.
.
If you can afford it, take on a personal fitness coach who will help you commit to your fitness goals.

No one cares about your health and your body as much as you do. So, it’s important that you take the right steps to look after it.
