Common Medical Conditions None of Us Is Immune To
Common medical conditions that we should be aware of, vigilant about, and take preventive measures for:
We can all be a little guilty of taking our good health for granted. We can go about our days, perhaps indulging in treats and bad diets. All this without giving our health a second thought.!
But not many of us will raise a glass to toast good health. The majority of us have loved ones who have become poorly for one reason or another. And we, ourselves may be ill, too.
Does this make you wonder why good health isn’t in the forefront of our minds as much as it should be? This has got me thinking about some of the most common health issues. And no one is particularly immune to any of these maladies.
I think it is imperative to share a few of these with you. The information might inspire you to give more priority to your own health. You can take the initiative to improve your lifestyle in some way.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Irritable bowel syndrome or IBS, as it most commonly known as, is a common digestive issue that affect many people. It often develops between the ages of 20 and 30. It is a long term illness although it can improve over time.
The symptoms can vary in individuals. Some people can struggle from it more than others. Sometimes symptoms can ease after a visit to the lavatory. Other people require medications.
IBS can often be easily managed by controlling your diet.
The exact causes of IBS are unknown. However, many experts link it to diet and a sensitive gut. This means you could struggle with constipation, stomach pain or even diarrhea.
There is no known cure to date. However, it can be managed by identifying the foods that trigger the symptoms. Reducing your stress levels can also have a calming effect. Regular exercise helps.
Anyone can feel depressed at some point in their lives. Depression and moodiness can occur as a result of events that happen in your life.
These can include the death of someone close, a broken-down relationship, sleep difficulties and stress. All these can have a lasting impression on how you feel about yourself and your current life situation.
There is a fundamental difference between low mood and depression.
A low mood may lift after a few days. It normally includes issues like worry, anger, and low self-esteem. It can create a lack of energy and tiredness.
These tendencies usually affect you in phases. Although these may not seem severe to the onlooker, it can seem all consuming to the sufferer.
However, these can lift after a while and you may start to see things improve.
If these feelings and mood last longer than two weeks, they can be a kill-joy. You may feel unable to concentrate on reading or work. You may feel totally helpless. This is when a low mood becomes a form of depression.
There a many ways that depressions and low mood can be treated. One of these is Cognitive behavioural therapy. Your doctor can also prescribe you medication to help alleviate some of the symptoms.
It’s worth remembering that we are not superhuman, that there are times in our lives when our mental health can be affected.
Diabetes is a long-term illness that affects the sugar levels in your blood.
The most common form of diabetes is type 2. In type 2 diabetes, your body doesn’t produce enough insulin in your body. The amount of sugar in our blood is controlled by a hormone called insulin, which is produced by the pancreas.
Most people are not aware that they suffer from diabetes. So when you spot some of the symptoms, you should visit your doctor immediately.
Symptoms of Diabetes 2 you should be aware of include:
- frequent thirst
- frequent urination
- sudden extreme weight loss
- blurred vision
- cuts that take a long time to heal
Type 2 diabetes can be treated with a change a lifestyle and diet. Eating healthily and exercising regularly are musts.
Sometimes medication is required to help regulate the insulin levels in the blood. Medications can vary. One of the most common is Metformin. It works on reducing the amount of glucose your liver releases into your bloodstream. It can also make blood cells more responsive to the insulin produced in your body. If you have been prescribed it you can buy metformin online.
We are human and living creatures. As such, we are liable to suffer from health issues like diabetes, cancer, kidney stones, anxiety and from dental problems.
