Healing with Cranberry Power!
Well, men, TOO, get these infections. And they should know about this secret as well.
A new study in The Archives of Internal Medicine details the power of cranberry for UTI infections.
This comprised of 10 separate studies involving 1,500 people. The results show that the participants who ingested cranberry and its derived products were 38% less likely to suffer from a urinary tract infection.
The cause of a urinary tract infection is bacteria entering the bladder or the kidneys via the urethra (the tube that carries urine from the bladder to the exterior).
The symptoms of UTI include:
- Frequent and painful urination, generally accompanied by a stinging sensation.
- Foul-smelling, cloudy-looking urine
- Abdomen feels tender
- Vomiting and nausea
Many people rely on cranberry juice to alleviate the above symptoms of UTI. However, cranberry extracts are much more effective at eliminating the underlying cause of the infection which is bacteria.
In addition, cranberry extracts don’t contain any added sugar (unlike most juices).
Sugar is food for bacteria, so using the juice from the cranberry could actually feed the bacteria and prolong the infection.
So if you are frequently a victim of UTIs, take a quality cranberry extract supplement instead. A dosage of 300 to 400 mg twice a day is good. This is an easy, cheap and natural way to save yourself a great deal of pain and bother.
Make Smarter Health Choices. Consciously. Deliberately. Actively.
