Our kidneys play a very important role in the daily functioning of our bodies. They have the important job of detoxifying and filtering the impurities from the blood as well as all the waste products from our urine.
When the kidneys are unable to process toxins efficiently, that is when kidney stones form. What happens is that the unprocessed minerals build up, leading to crystallization. These stones can cause pain as well as blocking the normal flow of urine.
Below are 8 natural remedies that can help soothe and diminish the discomfort caused by kidney stones. They may also help to speed up your body’s natural healing process.
THE FIRST THING TO DO: Change Your Diet
You probably got the kidney stones in the first place from an unhealthy diet. The first thing to do is to get rid of the cause. Cut down on or avoid processed foods and alcoholic beverages. Stop drinking soda. Increase your consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables to your diet, especially those listed below.

6. Pomegranate Juice
The seeds and juice of pomegranates are good natural remedies for kidney stones. This may be due to their astringent properties. Eat the fruit fresh or make fresh juice.
Clinical studies have shown that people suffering from recurrent kidney stones who supplemented with magnesium experienced a 92.3 % reduction in kidney stone occurrence. The recommended dose of magnesium orotate is 300mg/day as a preventive measure.
8. Organic Celery
Celery and celery sees are urine-promoters and kidney tonics. The regular consumption of celery (the vegetable) and of celery seed may help to prevent the formation of kidney stones.
Basil is a very good kidney tonifier. It is a good idea to sip basil tea throughout the day for overall kidney health.
If you suffer from kidney stones, take 1 teaspoon each of basil juice and raw honey every day for up to six months. In folk remedies, pure basil juice is used to induce expulsion of the kidney stones from the urinary tract.
The 9 remedies listed above are suggestions and are not intended to replace professional medical care from a qualified physician. If you are in pain from kidney stones, you must consult your doctor immediately.
