Living Holistic in The 21st Century
4 Challenges!
De-stress and Chill!
.
To be a human being should be relatively easy, because our needs are few. We need shelter, food, and water. That’s it.
.
Apart from that, everything else has been driven into us by generation after generation of progress.
.
We don’t know how to “be” humans anymore, having received a flurry of often contradictory messages since birth, we’re too confused. We’re far, far too confused.
.
So it’s little wonder that mental health disorders are on the rise. Depression is on course to become the world’s most common illness in the not too distant future.

Living Holistic in the 21st Century Challenge #1:
Working To Oblivion
.
In the Western world, we don’t work to live; we live to work. Too many of us are working long hours, and thus unable to enjoy the finer fruits of life.
.
We actually used to work more hours, back in the past, but it was a different era of work – there was less pressure, less competition. You left your job at the worksite, you didn’t carry it home with you and worry that it would be taken from you the next day.
.
If this is you, work towards freeing yourself – not from financial worries, but from your job.
.
You can always live cheaper than you currently are. Lost time and lost years are something you can never get back. You can’t get back the years you’ve lost in a job you hate.

Living Holistic in the 21st Century Challenge #2:
Asking Too Much
.
Our consumerist culture means we’re always asking for more, more, more. This way of being shows that something is lacking. This lack could be anything – feelings of inadequacy, a desire for belonging or self-esteem issues.
,
If your consumer habits don’t bring you happiness but you continue the habits all the same, then one-on-one sessions with counselors may bring out the root problem.
.
In any case, by always asking for more we’re never able to take a step back and be grateful for what we have. But we should, because being grateful really does make us happier!

You Get Out What Put In
.
Do you spend your day commuting to the office, sitting in front of a computer, driving home, then sitting in front of the television?
.
You are not doing your health any favours. You are marking yourself for depression. This is not how humans are supposed to live.
.
Spend some time doing exercise. Or go for a nightly walk to feel the benefits of this exercise in body and in mind.
.
You can even take it further by living more in tune with nature. Such a way of living is scientifically proven to lift our spirits.
.
A camping weekend is a good start. Or if things are really drastic, then sell up and move to the country altogether!

Finding Your Truth
.
Modern life is complicit in tripping us up, to take away our sense of happiness and autonomy.
.
Instead of blindly following what’s expected of you, take a look at your life anew and ask: “what do I want?”.
.
You’re entirely at liberty – are actually encouraged – to discard all the social norms of the 21st century. Don’t be bogged with other peoples’ truths or outdated societal norms.
.
Find your own truth and you’ll be richly rewarded.
