Slim with Protein
If you don’t already know it, well, here it is: Consuming empty carbohydrates will result in fat and hunger.
Instead, tuck into a good portion of protein – that will fill you up, satisfy you and, best of all, will help you keep lean and trim.
So that’s the secret: to slim and remain slim, eat more protein.
The Vital Importance of Protein in Illness
Research conducted at McGill University in Canada on the clinical effects of varying protein consumption of critically ill patients resulted in evidence that a daily protein consumption of 2 to 2.5 grams per kg of body weight resulted in optimal recovery time. (American Journal of Clinical Nutrition)
For an average adult who weighs 75kg, this equates to about 160 grams of protein per day for optimal recovery purposes.
So when you are ill, you need to increase your consumption of protein to aid your recovery.
