Best Sustainable Weight Loss and Maintenance ~ 3 Suggestions to Implement

October 15, 2020 By Luckily Leave a Comment

Weight Loss Fat Loss

THE BEST Sustainable weight loss WAYS

Keep the extra weight off for good!

Fat Loss Belly FatSustainable weight loss and its maintenance afterwards is the most difficult part of staying healthy and slim.
.
Many make the mistake of thinking that losing weight is the hard part. When actually, it’s keeping it off that’s the struggle. Admittedly,
shedding the extra pounds isn’t always easy. But once you’ve hit your target weight, life becomes even more difficult.

Weight Fat LossThe problem is that you have to ensure that you’re eating enough calories to maintain your weight, without overeating. This can be something that’s incredibly difficult to do.
.
Research has shown that two years after shedding their extra weight, most people weigh more than they did before that weight loss.

.
That might be a scary thought. However, there are things that you can do to reduce the likelihood of it happening to you. Below are 3 suggestions to consider adopting.

.
1. Be open-minded

When it comes to keeping the weight off for good, it’s important to be open-minded about the methods that you use. .
.
Frankly, the main problem in keeping weight off is motivation. Once we hit our goal weight, all motivation goes out the window. It’s hard to stay motivated in the long-term.

However, there are certain things that can help with this, such as attending weekly weight loss support groups. This helps because you have people to hold you accountable. This means that you’re less likely to fall off the wagon, so to speak.
.
Another method that you can do use to stay motivated is to undergo
hypnotherapy and hypnosis. Studies have shown that these two treatments can help to curb cravings, boost willpower, and help to reduce stress. Stress is a common cause of comfort eating, so learning how to manage it is important.

2. Weight yourself regularly

Once you have hit your target weight, it’s easy to forget to weigh in each week. However, if you fail to do so, you may not notice that the pounds are starting to go back on. Obviously, it’s also fine to go by how your clothes fit. But even so, it’s a good idea to weigh yourself at least once every two weeks.

Note down your weight each time you weigh in. Even if your weight stays the same, a record will help you keep track of any changes.
.
If you’re exercising regularly, your weight may go up due to increases in muscle. So it’s best to keep track via measuring the size of your hips, waist, and the tops of your arms and legs.

3. Keep a food diary

Health SifuTo ensure you continue to make smart choices where your food is concerned, it’s a good idea to keep a food diary. Each day, write down what you eat and drink to make sure that you’re not starting to revert to your old, unhealthy ways.

Keeping Feet Healthy ~ 4 Practices of Health-Conscious People

December 7, 2018 By Luckily Leave a Comment

Keeping Feet Healthy

4 Ways Health-Conscious People Practise for Keeping Feet Healthy

Keeping Feet Healthy Keeping feet healthy is a very important task which should be practised with utmost care. Why? Simply because your feet are responsible for carrying the weight of your whole body day-in-day-out, on all the journeys of your entire life.
.
It’s so vital to make sure you give them the due care they need and deserve. In order to be intentional about your foot care, consider these 4 tips to get started.

1. Wear Supportive Shoes

Supportive shoes can make a major difference in your experience. If you’re going to be standing for a long period of time, make sure that you wear shoes with supportive in-sole cushions. When you’re exercising, make sure that you purchase sneakers that support the type of activity you’re doing.
.
Get properly measured so that you’ll know the shoe size you need. If you’re wearing a pair of heels, carry a comfortable pair of flats as well.

2. Be Proactive about Medical Needs

Some people know that they need to see a podiatrist, but they continue to postpone the appointment. Don’t make this mistake.
.
Yes, it can take some time and effort to treat and minimise bunion pain. And yes,
bunion surgery is a procedure which will take time to heal.

Minimize Bunion Pain ~ 4 Solutions to Reduce Your Discomfort

Be mindful of times when you feel pain or notice an imbalance in the way you stand or support yourself.
.
If you suffer from diabetes, you must always examine your feet carefully to ensure that blood  flow to the toes without impediments. Without proper blood flow, your toes can suffer from gangrene which will require amputation to save you.

What Are The Main Diabetes Dangers? 4 Life-Threatening Health Issues

Remember, it’s always better to take care of any medical situation regarding your feet when it’s a manageable issue. After all, remember: Prevention is always better than the cure, and sooner is better than later when it concerns your feet. You won’t know how precious they are – until you lose them. So make sure that doesn’t happen!

3. Properly Wash, Dry and Moisturize Feet

Keeping Feet Healthy There are many people who forget to scrub the bottoms of their feet when they take a shower each day. Your feet need love too. Don’t forget to scrub in between your toes.
.
Once you’re finished washing your feet, it’s wise to moisturize them first. When you lock in the moisture of the lotion, put on socks to seal the moisture in. Make sure your feet are dry before you put on the socks.
.
Thankfully, this process will help you to maintain beautifully moisturized feet. There’s nothing worse than feeling dry, cracked skin on your heels or the soles of your feet.

4. Elevate Feet When They’re in Pain

Keeping Feet HealthyIf you’re ever in a position where you’re standing too long in heels or you’ve been spending a lot of time on an airplane, it’s not uncommon to feel discomfort in your feet.
.
Always elevate your feet to allow the blood to circulate. Put a few pillows underneath your feet before you go to sleep that night. This will help you decrease or eliminate the pain altogether.
.
health sifu
When you take excellent care of your feet, your body will feel the benefits. Any potential aches and pains can’t linger when you’re proactive with your foot care. For more information on how to increase your awareness of foot care, see your podiatrist.

Controlling Blood Sugar Levels ~ The Important Role of Water

March 16, 2018 By Luckily Leave a Comment

Water Vital for Health

. Controlling Blood Sugar Levels

The Underestimated Role of Water in Diabetes Management
.
.Diabetes

Diabetes, which is a group of metabolic disorders, is characterized by higher than normal blood sugar levels in the body.
.
This condition may arise because of two reasons – insufficient production of insulin in the body or no response of body’s cells to the insulin being produced.
.
Thousands of people around the world are diagnosed with diabetes each year and there are millions of people who already have this condition. Diabetes can have a significant impact on the physical and mental health of an individual and uncontrolled manage can actually severely impact the quality of life of an individual.
.
According to a recent study, the
rate of diabetes (primarily, type 2 diabetes) has nearly doubled in the last three decades.
.
But the fact that is most worrying, according to healthcare professionals around the world, is that the rate of incidence has increased the most among young adults, those aged between 18 and 34. This is primarily due to the rising rate of obesity among young adults. Obesity is one of the major factors that put people at an increased risk of diabetes.
.
Controlling Blood Sugar Levels But did you know that diabetes and obesity can actually be managed by increasing the consumption of just one simple ingredient in our daily lives? It is none other than water. Yes, you read it right.
.
It is a known fact that 70 percent of the human body is made up of water. Water controls almost every biological process in the body, including digestion and metabolism, excretion, the formation of muscles and amino acids, and fat burn. It provides a medium for hundreds of reactions that take place in the human body.
.
Staying hydrated status  also help keep your stress levels down. During stressful times, you’re more likely to forget to drink and eat well. Just getting enough fluids helps to keep you at your best.
.
The role of water in the prevention of specific diseases is well-established. A lack of water can set the stage for degenerative illnesses like cancer and heart disease.
.
Apart from disease management, water also helps maintain a
healthy and glowing skin. In the absence of adequate water intake, the skin dries out fast and starts losing its elasticity. As a result, the skin of the dehydrated individual gets affected by the visible signs of aging.
.
Apart from visible changes, there are a lot of other things taking place inside the body of the dehydrated individual. These things are not visible but may manifest itself in the form of certain symptoms. For example, excessive fatigue, afternoon slump, and muscular pain in the legs are a few signs of dehydration.
.
However, this is not it. Chronic metabolic conditions such as obesity and diabetes may also result from inadequate water consumption. The following sections delve deep into the topic.

How Exactly Does Dehydration Trigger Diabetes?

Consider this simple example – you take a glass of water and dissolve sugar in It. Now you let this water evaporate on a sunny day. As the water evaporates, the remaining solution in the glass just keeps getting sweeter. This is exactly what happens inside your body as you dehydrate yourself by not drinking enough water.
.
In the absence of sufficient water, the concentration of sugar in your blood just keeps on increasing. This is the condition of diabetes. Sufficient amount of water is, therefore, needed to dilute the levels of sugar in the blood and keep it from manifesting itself as diabetes.

This works in the opposite direction as well. High blood sugar levels in the body heighten an individual’s risk of suffering from dehydration. In the absence of adequate water levels in the body, glucose is not eliminated from the body through urine. This may lead to further dehydration.
.
Dehydration also triggers the production of a hormone called vasopressin. This hormone directs the kidneys to prevent the elimination of the remaining water.
.
Additionally, it tells the liver to release glucose into the body. Since water is required to eliminate glucose from the bloodstream, the absence of it prevents the kidneys from forming urine and thus, glucose continues to build up in the blood stream as long as excessive vasopressin is in the system.
.
Lastly, increasing the concentration of glucose in the blood makes it thick. Sticky and thick blood increases insulin resistance in the body. That is, the cells in the body tend to lose their sensitivity and therefore, respond less to the insulin being produced by the pancreas. This can worsen diabetes.
.
Drinking sufficient amounts of water can make it easier for glucose to move through the bloodstream and prevent insulin resistance.

Scientific Evidence Supporting The Role of Water in Diabetes Management

A study conducted by a team of French researchers back in 2011 confirmed that drinking four or more glasses (8-ounces) of water every day can prevent diabetes.
.
The study, which included 3,615 men and women, found that people who drank more than 34 ounces of water in a day were 21 percent less likely to develop diabetes as compared to those who drank 16 ounces or less.
.
Several similar studies have correlated not drinking enough water to an increased risk of diabetes. Additionally, there are studies confirming that not drinking enough water can actually lead to overeating and weight gain. This may, in turn, lead to obesity, which is one of the leading risk factors for diabetes.

Dehydration can slow down mechanism, increase fatigue, and prevent the proper breakdown of fats for energy needs. As a result, fat starts to accumulate in body areas such as the lower abdomen, thighs, and upper arms. High abdominal fat and greater abdominal circumference are, again, increase the risk of diabetes in an individual.

8 Signs That Indicate That Your Body Needs Water

  • Excessive thirst and hunger
  • Sweating and perspiration
  • Excessive fatigue
  • Dark yellow urine
  • Skin losing its elasticity
  • Decreased urine output
  • Unexplained muscle pain
  • Bloating and unexplained weight gain

Recognizing Early Warning Signs of Cardiac Arrest Heart Attack Could Save Your Life

Heart health is crucial to our overall health and well being. We often don’t realise how important our cardiovascular system is, until something goes wrong.
.
We live fast-paced lives in this modern 21st century world. We think that since all our peers are doing that, it must be the okay thing to do…
.
How to Improve Your Cardiovascular Health
…Until we suffer a stroke, or heart failure or when a loved one dies suddenly of a heart attack.
.
Few people are aware that diabetes, heart disease and cancer often go together hand-in-hand. So improving one area of your health also improves other related areas.

Below are 6 tips to help improve your cardiovascular health.

1. Cholesterol IS….YOUR FRIEND!

We’ve all be told that we’re at risk of developing heart disease if you have cholesterol levels. Is that really true?Contrary to what everyone says, cholesterol is CRUCIAL for optimal health.
.
All your hormones, including progesterone, estrogen and testosterone are made from cholesterol. Part of the walls of each of your billions of cells is made of cholesterol.

.
Cholesterol has been framed. How? Because it is always at the crime scene. Cholesterol patches up injured artery walls. Would you blame all firemen as the cause of the fires they fight just because they were at the scene of the fire?
.
The good news, however, is that if your cholesterol levels are high, it is because there is a great deal of patching up that your cholesterol friends are doing. This really means chronic inflammation. It also means it’s really high time to get your cardiovascular and general health in order.
.
Continue with the following tips.

2. Keep An Optimal Weight: Reduce Obesity

How to Improve Your Cardiovascular HealthIf you are overweight, you should aim to lose a few pounds. However, losing weight doesn’t happen overnight.
.
Start a regular exercise routine. It’s also important to slowly start reducing the amount of unhealthy food you eat to keep the pounds off for good. Aim for a healthy diet.
.
,
How to Improve Your Cardiovascular HealthIt is also good to consider joining like-minded groups of people interested in eating for health.
.
If you’re male, aim to consume 1,200-1,600 calories a day, and if you’re female, aim to consume 1,000-1,200 calories a day.

3. Read Nutritional Profiling Information

According to the World Health Organization, “nutrient profiling is the science of classifying or ranking foods according to their nutritional composition for reasons related to preventing disease and promoting health.”
.
It’s important to read into th
e
nutritional profiling information so you can work on improving your own health and well-being.
.
If you don’t keep track of what you’re consuming and what the nutritional profiling information says, you’re simply not doing the best for yourself.

4. Avoid This Food Item Which Contributes to Heart Disease

fats which heal, fats which kill

Dietary habits can be changed if you are motivated enough. Here is a particular type of food which should be avoided to prevent heart/cardiovascular disease.
.
This is processed seed oils. These include rapeseed oil, canola, sunflower, peanut, safflower, corn and more. These have been extracted at high temperatures, deodorised, bleached and transformed to a form that our bodies cannot recognise.
.
Additionally, you should avoid all hydrogenated oils. In the prime position are margarine and all vegetable (cum butter) spreads.
.
When eating out, avoid all fried foods. Why? They’ve all been fried in seed oils because they’re cheap. And these oils are used and used over and over again. Bad news for your heart.
.
So what do you cook with? Non-processed coconut oil, butter, animal fat.

5. Take Premium Nutritional Supplements

We need optimum nutrients daily to keep our heart and vascular system healthy.
.
We must be realistic that we simply cannot get these in even the best organic healthy diet we eat…unless we live in the mountains far, far away from civilization. And even then, environmental pollution is catching up.
.
Keeping your arteries clear will help keep blood pressure at the optimum reading for you.
.
Magnesium is crucial for heart health. As are complex minerals. Take a plant-based bioavailable mineral supplement is important.
.
Reducing systemic inflammation is important. Curcumin, the medicinal extract from the tumeric root is one of the best.
.
To further protect our hearts, consider stem cell support supplementation. These can help stimulate your bone marrow produce adult stem cells which then can help your heart and cardiovascular system to self-heal and self-renew.

6. Relax, Relax, Relax

If you feel yourself getting too stressed out, your blood pressure will rise, without a doubt. Instead of freaking out, relax more often by meeting a friend, chilling on the couch, or meditating.
.
Stress is a killer, more so than many people realise.

To improve your cardiovascular health and your well-being, you should work on eating a natural health diet, being more relaxed, reading nutritional profiling information and taking premium nutritional supplements.

Tackling Blood Sugar Issues in Diabetes ~ 4 Smart Ways To Do This!

January 11, 2018 By Luckily Leave a Comment

Your Drinks Become You!

.4 Smart Ways to Resolve Your Blood Sugar Issues in Your Diabetes Diagnosis

Tackling Blood Sugar Issues in Diabetes .
If you have just heard the news that you have diabetes, then you may feel like your life has just fallen apart.
.
While you are likely to have to deal with this condition for the rest of your life, there are many things that you can do to help yourself feel better.
.
Of course, you will need to eat right, exercise to stay fit, and take your medicine. But there are other things that may help.
.
While diabetes is known as the silent killer affecting over 371 million people in the world, it does not have to adversely affect your lifestyle if you take steps to manage it appropriately.
,
Here are four ideas that you may want to try to control your blood sugar levels.

1. Sit in a Hot Tub

Tackling Blood Sugar Issues in DiabetesAccording to a study published in The New England Journal of Medicine, people with Type 2 diabetes who sat in a hot tub for at least 30 minutes for six days every week often were able to control their diabetes better.
.
People using a hot tub regularly often
lost weight, which can be a great step forward in controlling diabetes. Additionally, sitting in a hot tub spa is great fun, so people often feel better about their general health.
.
Sitting in a hot tub also
helps the heart and may mimic an exercise routine without actually needing to workout according to the researchers.

2. Eat Cinnamon

Tackling Blood Sugar Issues in Diabetes While not all doctors agree, eating cinnamon has been shown to help lower blood sugar levels along with cholesterol levels.
.
A cup of hot cinnamon tea is a great way to start the day. You can make it easily at home by putting two cinnamon sticks in a cup of water and warming it. You can also use cinnamon powder in place of the sticks.
.
There are other foods and nutrients that may help control diabetes including fennel seeds, honey, okra, Indian gooseberries and bitter gourd.

3. Try Intermittent Fasting

Intermittent fasting can sometimes help control blood sugar levels, and it is relatively easy to do. Set a 12-hour window during every day and eat only during those hours. Then, eat and drink absolutely nothing during the other 12 hours.
.
Doctors find that cells get more insulin sensitive when they have feeding and non-feeding periods. They also find that the digestive system works better when it is given time to rest.

4. Give up Your Night Job

Researchers have found that those people who work at night are more apt to have diabetes and that it is more apt to be poorly controlled. People working the night shift had a 7 percent increase in their blood sugar levels over people who were either unemployed or who worked during the day.
.
Circadian misalignment may be too blame for this increase, so if you cannot get off the night shift, then make sure that you are getting enough sleep. This is the research presented at the Endocrine Society’s 2017 annual meeting. Researchers also found that people working the night shift may have a harder time taking their medicine at appropriate times.

There are many things that a diabetic can do to take charge of their health care. Most researchers and doctors say that taking medicine as prescribed, getting to and maintaining a good weight and exercising regularly are the three most important things that the diabetic can do. ,
If those do not seem to be enough, then use these unusual ideas to get an even better control of your blood sugar levels so that you can live a long and happy life.
.
Remember that this silent killer does not have to make you miserable or shorten your lifespan if you take appropriate control measures.

Good Health in Youth is NOT Always A Given ~ 5 Tips for Young Adults

July 7, 2017 By Luckily Leave a Comment

Good Health in Youth

.
Good Health in Youth ? Just Because You’re Young, It Doesn’t Mean You’re Invincible

Good Health in Youth As we get older, we become more aware of health concerns. Our bodies don’t run as smoothly anymore. And yes, we become more vigilant about common health problems.
.
However, it isn’t just older people who get sick. Youth doesn’t necessarily equate with good health. While they might be different, there are still many health problems we should be aware of when we’re younger.
.
Unfortunately, the majority of us tend to neglect them when we’re young. It’s easy to feel like you’re invincible; old age seems an eternity away when you’re young.
.
Sadly, if you don’t look out for the tell-tale signs of health problems in your youth, you could end up getting seriously ill.
.
If you’ve been neglecting your own health, below are 5 health issues that you should be concerned about:

No Health Insurance

Many young people make the mistake of thinking that they aren’t at risk of illness. Hence they don’t take up a health insurance policy. About a third of young adults polled said that they don’t have any insurance cover.
.
Having private medical insurance is vital for anybody because even if you are perfectly healthy, there is always the chance that you can get injured. If you need to visit the hospital and you don’t have insurance, then you could find yourself in trouble.

 Obesity

Good Health in Youth Obesity is a health epidemic that spans the generations. However, in a lot of cases, it starts early.
.
Once you’ve gained a certain amount of weight, it can become very difficult to lose it again. And the problem will only get worse.
.
.
Rates of obesity in young people are rising dramatically. You need get on top of the problem while you can. If not, you’re more likely to spend the rest of your adult life with mounting health problems.
.
Obesity can lead to so many different debilitating health conditions including diabetes and heart disease. These ailments can develop from an early age.
.
Good Health in YouthLack of exercise is one of the primary causes of obesity in young people. Polls indicate that only a third of them are getting enough regular exercise every week.
.
Exercising three or four times a week will help you to maintain a healthy weight. It also helps to prevent various degenerative illnesses which could develop as you get older.

Crohn’s Disease

Crohn’s disease is an incredibly painful condition caused by inflammation of the digestive system.
.
It’s not usually a health problem that young people really think about. However, the fact remains that it is usually diagnosed between the ages of fifteen and thirty. So young adults are at the highest risk.
.
If you don’t get treatment quickly, then it can be a very debilitating condition that will seriously affect your day-to-day life.

Diabetes

Type 1 Diabetes is a lifelong condition that needs monitoring otherwise you put your life in serious danger. This type of diabetes will show up early in life.
.
Good Health in Youth Type 2 Diabetes usually develops in later life, often as a result of diet. If you
ignore symptoms and don’t get medical help, you could end up doing yourself much harm.
.
Good Health in Youth A diet assessment is a priority. With the help of a holistic health practitioner, you can get the guidance to turn Type 2 Diabetes around.
.

Smoking

Good Health in Youth It’s no surprise that smoking is bad for you. Everybody knows that.
.
The percentage of smokers among young people is disproportionately high. This is because young people often think that they have years and years of life ahead of them.
.
Smoking for them is only a short term thing and they’d
give up when they get older.
.
Unfortunately, most people don’t because after they’ve been smoking for a while, they get addicted. In the bigger majority of cases, they struggle to quit.
