Nutrients for Optimal Health

To be in optimal health, we need 90 nutrients, 60 minerals, 16 vitamins, 12 essential amino acids and 3 essential fatty acids.

We can count ourselves lucky to have plants that, as a group, can make most of the vitamins, amino acids and fatty acids for us ~ provided, of course, that we eat these plants and not what passes for plants that we buy as food today.
.
Plants can conjure magic with a wave of their environmentally-friendly green wand ~ they simply take carbon out of the air and make carbon chains, and make vitamins and make amino acids, and make essential fatty acids. Wow!
.
The only problem is that you actually would have to eat 15 to 25 different plants a day and in the correct combinations for this to happen, to be in optimal health. In theory, this is do-able. However, most people don’t know about this, let alone do it.

Why you might not make it to the 100 year-old High Jump

Many modern-world Westerners might think that if they are eating some kind of defrosted micro-waved potato on their TV dinner plate that they’re actually eating a vegetable, pat themselves on the back, smile and think they’re being good. So you have to be really careful what you consider to be a vegetable.
.
Then, but of course, some of these people may wish to please their doctor and do right by them; after all, you want your doctor to think well of you, don’t you?
.
So they eat low-fat turkey breast with half a jar of white-label hydrogenated oil-based mayonnaise on the meat, stick that between two slices of bleached styrofoam bread (that resembles the stuff that one would insulate one’s house with… Or could put in the hole in your shoe to stop water leaking in).
.
This might give you a bit of a clue why you might not make it to that 100-year-old hurdle.
.
Anyway, with such a diet, it’s highly unlikely that you’re going to get the necessary vitamins, amino acids and fatty acids in the proper proportions just from your diet alone.

How to make it there

So…if your life is as precious and valuable to you as mine is to me and mine, I’d make doubly sure that I do indeed take in all these necessary vitamins, amino acids and fatty acids.
.
Believe you me, and I guarantee you it that you’re not even likely to make it to 60 or 70 or 80 or whatever, let alone make it to 120 or 140 if you don’t. You’re just not going to do it, no, and certainly not on that kind of styrofoam diet just described earlier.

The Mineral Saga

As for minerals, this is a whole new kettle of fish. It’s a tragic story as far as they are concerned. This is because plants cannot make minerals by themselves in any way, shape or form. And if these minerals are not in the soil any more, they’re certainly not going to be in our plants.
.
Today our farm soils, our rain soils…are all depleted, stripped bare, of minerals. So the grains, crops, fruits, vegetables, nuts and whatever else that are grown on these mineral-depleted farm and rain soils are going to be, of course, mineral-deficient. And even when you think you’re being good and eating these plants (and not the de-frosted microwaved potato that passed for a vegetable earlier on), you contract mineral deficiency diseases.
.
And so, in today’s 21st Century, the only way to prevent and to cure these mineral deficiency diseases is to supplement with minerals.
.
What farmers did in the old days, AND still continue to do today is to put only NPK in the soils. These represent these three nutrients: nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. They don’t put all 60 minerals back in the soil, certainly not.
.
It has all to do with economics. Farmers earn lots when they get maximum crop yields that they can sell, whatever the nutritional value of their crops. They don’t get government subsidies for putting the missing nutrients back into the soil. No way. So, they’re not going to do it.
.
The time period to deplete the land of minerals is only a mere 5 to 10 years. Every time the farmer harvests a crop, his plants pull minerals out of the soil. Lots of minerals per acre, each and every time a crop is hauled out of the soil. So, it’s not difficult to deduce that all too soon, those minerals are…GONE.

The Pure Simple Mathematics of Mineral Depletion

Even a school child can do the simple mathematics; If you take out 60, but only put back 3…? If it were your bank account, you’d have all your cheques bounce, bounce, bounce. Boing!Boing!Boing!

This is what’s happening: Your health, my health, his health, her health ~ all are all bouncing away now as there are no more minerals left in the soil.

Well, you may ask, “What did people do, those who lived thousands of years ago? Chemical fertilisers didn’t exist then. What did they do?”

The old civilisations like the Egyptians, the Chinese and the Indians ~ they all lived in and around great rivers ~ The Nile, The Yellow River, The Ganges. Remember your history lessons.

Every year or often, these great rivers would flood the land. And each and every time it flooded, just guess what happened? The floods brought silt from 1000s of miles away. Good rock dust from the mountains, more precious than gold.
.
And these ancient people would trade every god they had ~ be it the water god, or the sky god, or the wind god, or the river god, or the rock god, or whatever god ~ TO FLOOD. We, today, in the 21st century, pray for it NOT to flood.
.
These ancient civilisations knew that the floods would put silt and minerals back into their soil. Their crops were the rock of their lives, the wealth and backbone of their civilisation. Extremely precious and valuable. Their grain was more valuable than life itself.
.
The father of Alexander The Great, King Phillip, married Cleopatra, the 12-year old child queen of Egypt. She had not the slightest resemblance to Elizabeth Taylor in all her on-screen finery. The real Cleopatra was a pancake-chested teenager and not sexy or alluring like our famous Elizabeth.
.
But King Phillip married her for this reason: Cleopatra controlled the best wheat in the world at that time. He had the ambition of conquering the world using his Macedonian army through his son, Alexander The Great. And to do that, his soldiers had to be strong; they had to have endurance; they had to march and march and march for up to 20 hours a day, and then they had to fight. AND WIN.
.
If they ate the wheat from the depleted Greek soils, they wouldn’t have been able to walk 10 minutes, let alone march 20 hours, without pleading “Please, Mummy, please pick me up. My legs hurt. Oh Mummy…please…” Can you imagine these big Greek soldiers like this? No way!
.
And King Phillip was only too intelligent and had fore-sight. So he married the flat-chested bopper, Cleopatra, not for her sex allure but for her wheat. And the floods from the Nile gave his soldiers those precious, needed minerals to win his wars.
.
All the great ancient civilisations of the world, all these cultures that came up with their great art and all their great technology, came from those places. These people were highly intelligent ~ they had the proper nutrition and plenty of it. They had the minerals and plenty of it.
.

You get these minerals in you now. See you at the 100-year high jump!
