Are You Tired All The Time
Here is The Reason Why…
.
Are you tired all the Time? Do you know the reason why?
.
How are you feeling right now? At a guess, a good 50 per cent would probably reply ‘tired’. Tired seems to be a permanent state of being for many people.
.
Many people today have busy jobs, demanding social lives and family commitments popping up in an endless merry-go-round. There never seems a minute to stop and reflect, or a way to shut off mentally.
.
.
This state of affairs can be debilitating. Not only does it engender a host of follow-on consequences, from loss of mental clarity to poorer dietary choices and weight gain, but it can put both our own, and other people’s, lives at risk.
.
Think about it – if you’re driving along tired, all it takes is a momentary lapse in concentration…And you could end up involved in a serious accident. The negative consequences will depend on the degree of injury caused to another party or to yourself.
.
And if you are the person at fault, you may need professional legal help who can help sort you out. However, it is best to be proactive and avoid such situations.
.
.
Why Are You So Tired?
.
Rather than accepting that tiredness is a modern state of being, we need to find ways to manage our energy levels. Surprisingly, the answer could lie in your gut health.
.
Scientists and physicians are beginning to recognise the huge role that the gut microbiome plays in regulating our health and energy levels. It’s pretty abstract to make the link between your gut flora and your energy levels, but it’s a huge factor in ‘unexplained’ tiredness and insomnia.
.
.
What Affects Gut Health?
.
Diet and lifestyle factors can all have a massive impact on the health of your microbiome. Factors to watch include:
- Too much sugary food
- Excess alcohol consumption
- Food intolerances
- Certain medications you may take
- Raised cortisol levels due to a stressful lifestyle
There are many factors at play and some, or all, of them may be to blame.
.
.
How Can I Improve My Gut Health?
.
.
.
There are many small, positive changes you can make to improve matters. Start with the simple step of adding more vegetables to every meal.
.
Try to ‘eat a rainbow’ each day with as many different colours and variants as you can. The fibre in them helps maintain gut health along with all the nutrients they supply.
.
Certain vegetables, such as bananas, onions, garlic, broccoli and brussels sprouts are also classed as pre-biotics, meaning that they contain compounds that provide ‘food’ for healthy gut bacteria.
.
You can also look to reduce your alcohol intake or even abstain from alcohol altogether, as the fermented sugars it contains can seriously upset the balance of your flora. As alcohol also interrupts deep, restorative sleep this could be a double whammy when it comes to improving your tiredness.
.
Finally, try to avoid antibiotic medicines unless there is really no alternative. Steroid medications such as cortisone and the contraceptive pill can also be problematic. These ‘wonder’ drugs cause deterioration of the bowel environment, especially with prolonged usage.
.
With just a few straightforward health and lifestyle changes, you can quickly and easily improve the state of your gut health and benefit from all the improvements that brings, including a better night’s sleep!
