Mosquito Diseases Mosquito-Carried Virus Chikungunya
Has hit Tampa Bay
Prevalent Mosquito Diseases- Tampa, Florida
.
Against some predictions, the mosquito-carried virus- Chikungunya- has hit Tampa Bay like an epidemic spreading from reported cases of merely two people.
.
As reported by the Tampa tribune, in July, the number of reported cases for the diseases numbered around 42. Later documents and news releases reported the number as increasing up to 81.
.
As far as 2014 is concerned, this mosquito virus has hit fast and hard in Florida.

.
The virus spreads via mosquitoes- that is if one person contains the virus then a mosquito who bites that person can transfer it to another individual by biting them too.
.
Thus far it is not a deadly disease, though there are no treatments for it available. Its symptoms mostly vary from severe fever to muscle and joint pains, so pain reliefs are often required. Bed rest cures the diseases on its own, though it can be quite severe on weakened immune systems.
.
Chikungunya is a virus that had originated in Africa in the 1950s and was more or less unheard of in the United States. Doctors believe that a few tourists coming back from the Caribbean or the South African tours are the likely importers of the virus.
.
As the mosquitoes are the only carriers, Tampa bay has had a lot of mosquito repellent sprayed in it. The doctors also urge, cleaning up any standing water or areas of garbage which can become breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

STDs
Another brand of illness running even more chronically in Tampa is the STD. Cases of Chlamydia rose up to almost 78000 by 2012. Other diseases such as Gonorrhea and syphilis have also seen a rise in reported cases across Tampa Bay and Hillsborough County.
.
Doctors and health consultants have noted a trend in adolescents and young adults catching the disease, indicating a possible lack of awareness in sex education.
Rates* of primary and secondary syphilis among adolescents aged 15–19 years, by sex and year — Nationally Notifiable Disease Surveillance System, United States, 1997–2006
A more through noted cause for this increase has been the hesitancy among people to get tested for STDs.
.
Many STDs can be prevented or cured quickly if detected early. However, people avoid the testings due to embarrassment or other factors, which as resulted in the diseases increasing this region of the United States.
.
STDs are tricky because the afflicted tend not to mention them. They have difficulty in seeing the doctor for them so tracking them is difficult. Most cases get reported late, after which treatment is difficult.
